Last night I set up this blog and finally took the plunge into using Typepad. I've blogged and kept online journals for a long time (6 or 7 years?) and I've tried lots of different tools. I just thought I'd write my first impressions of Typepad.
Well so far I've been really happy. There's a lot of customization and setup when doing a new blog and it can be really hard while using a new system. Typepad was pretty easy to configure. A couple of times I was frustrated trying to remember where something was at. I remembered seeing options for what to include on the About page but where the f*** was that at? Oh okay. Its not nearly as bad as other tools.
I like the TypeLists, it took a little while to understand. I like that you can embed HTML on the sidebar through them. I really like being able to add RSS feeds to the sidebar. I added my Netflix activity. It also made it easy to add the links I like blog through Google Reader. The customization gets an A+.
I really needed something to bring together all the different places that I have online. Between MySpace, YouTube, Flickr and other sites I post lots of stuff online. But I haven't had a blog that I could use to tie it all together. I'm happy with the decision to use Typepad.
